Playa del Cura
Playa del Cura is located on the warm and sunny southern coast of Gran Canaria. The better-known resort town of Puerto Rico is only a few kilometers to the southeast. The distance to the airport is 49km.
The beach in general
Playa del Cura has a lovely 300-meter-long beach right in front of the hotels. The eastern half of the beach has fine-grained lava sand. Here you will find sunbeds and umbrellas for rent, as well as showers.
The western half of the beach has coarse lava sand and stones close to the water. There are no facilities here, but on the other hand there is plenty of space for the beachgoers.
A few minutes’ walk to the southeast you will find the lovely Playa del Tauro. It was originally a natural beach with coarse lava sand and stones, but now it has been upgraded with the finest golden sand from Sahara.
Child friendliness
The beach of Playa del Cura invites the children to play in the sand and in the quite shallow water. Most days the water is calm, but on days with winds from the south and southwest waves can occur.
Water sports activities
You will find no water sports activities on Playa del Cura beach. If you want to go jet skiing, paragliding or the like, there is a large selection of water sports activities in the neighboring resort of Puerto Rico.
Beach restaurants
There are no restaurants, cafés or bars at the beach in Playa del Cura, but fortunately, the small center is only 200 meters away. Here you can buy drinks, ice cream and sandwiches.
Playa del Cura holiday resort
Playa del Cura is a relatively small and quiet holiday town. Besides the sandy beach, there is a center with a supermarket, a few tourist shops and a few bars, cafes and restaurants.
All hotels are within a few minutes’ walk of the beach. Right at the beach there are three hotels, including the popular 4-star Labranda Costa Mogán. This hotel has modernly furnished rooms and is perfect for both families with children and couples. All-inclusive is available.
Apart from the lovely beach, there are no activities in Playa del Cura. Those who want to experience something outside of Playa del Cura can take a trip to nearby holiday resorts such as Puerto Rico or the picturesque Puerto de Mogan. Further east are some of Gran Canaria’s most popular attractions, such as Palmitos Park and Aqualand.

The roundabout in the middle of the map marks the center of Playa del Cura. Here you will find the small shopping center, the bus stop and the road down to the beach hotels. The beach seen at the bottom right of the map is Playa de Tauro.
